If you are serious about selling your handmade online, having your own website in addition to Etsy is a must.
I have been selling on Etsy full time for almost three years and it is still the best marketplace for selling handmade in my humble opinion. But that could soon change as the popularity of Etsy grows among resellers, copycats and those who chose to have their handmade mass produced. I believe it is important to have a backup plan if it ever comes to the point where it is no longer beneficial for you to have an Etsy shop.
Having your own website gives you more control and allows you to grow your business away from Etsy. I know the thought of having your own standalone website may seem a bit overwhelming, but I found a place that makes it so very easy!
Indiemade is absolutely fabulous website hosting and eCommerce platform and the best place for handmade artists, artisans, and crafters to set up shop. Out all of the platforms I have tried, it has the best features and is by far the simplest to use. Plus the pricing is unbelievable low!
Indiemade was founded by the creative type, Jennifer Rapp Peterson who is an illustrator, cartoonist, toy inventor & serial entrepreneur. Because she has been there and done that, Peterson made sure it has everything a handmade seller needs for a website. Not only has she made it very simple to use and navigate, but she also has setup a resource section that provides tons of information on how to grow your handmade business.
I strongly encourage you to checkout all of Indiemade’s features here and signup for a free 30-day trial!
